Only a few years ago, breast cancer patients had to travel between the QEII and the IWK for their breast health services. While their care was optimal, the patient experience was not and local leaders knew it could be better.
Six years ago, the QEII Foundation and IWK Foundation joined forces to create a new comprehensive Breast Health Centre. Nova Scotians responded to the fundraising challenge by raising $3.9 million. With only $1.3 million left before the completion of the Centre, you are invited to be part of the fifth and final Bust a Move for Breast Health™ on March 22, 2014.
When all is said and done, you and other breast health supporters will have created a permanent imprint that extends far beyond the exercise floor — together, a comprehensive Breast Health Centre will be built right here, in your community. This Centre will offer a holistic approach to breast health. Since services have been consolidated, patients no longer need to be transferred between facilities — reducing wait times and improving the patient experience.
