Welcome to our 13th issue of QEII Times! Over the past four years, we’ve shared more than 200 stories with you. Stories highlighting the amazing work happening at the QEII Health Sciences Centre and the healthcare professionals who are committed to working hard every day to change and save lives.
In this issue, some QEII physicians and staff shared what led them to pursue a career in health care. It is the QEII’s teams who inspire us at the Foundation to advance health care at the QEII. But we can’t do it alone.
It is QEII Foundation donors, like many of you, who truly make an impact on health care for Atlantic Canadians. And what an impact you have made! In 2016-17, the QEII Foundation raised $15.8-million for the QEII.
These generous gifts advanced programs, provided new technology and improved facilities in areas such as cardiac care, cancer care, diagnostic imaging, neuroscience, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, palliative care and rehabilitation.
In addition to funding patient care, the Foundation supported research and education initiatives at the QEII in arthroplasty (joint replacement) outcomes, breast cancer, cardiovascular outcomes, clinical trials, hematology, melanoma, pancreatic cancer, population cancer and urology. Research is an investment in the future of health care, changing the lives of patients for generations to come. Today’s unknowns are tomorrow’s discoveries.
For more than two decades, individuals and organizations throughout the region have been committed to supporting health care at the QEII through their generous gifts. Whether you give $10 or $10,000, every gift makes a difference.
The QEII Foundation exists for a single purpose — to inspire generosity that advances health care at the QEII. Together we are stronger, keeping our families and communities healthy.
